using delayedcall() with definespell?

is it possible to use delayedcall with definespell? I tried to create a normal script function in spell.lua, but It gives me an error.

I placed a helper script entity in the dungeon with the functions that I can use delaycall() with. It works, but if that script isn't there, it messes up the spell.
