Issue with Monitor - Out of Range

Hi,

I purchased this game and Legend of Grim. 2 in a bundle on steam and the sound seems to work fine, but the monitor screen comes up with 'Out of Range'. I was wondering if you had any tips on how to help with this issue?

My computer is a windows 7 Home Prem. and the graphics card is GTX 750. The screen refresh rate is at 60 hertz. My normal screen resolution is 1024x768, and I've attempted twice to change it to higher and lower settings (800x600 and 1280x768). Also, the colour is usually 64 bit (true colour) and I've attempted changing it to 32 bits (high colour), but without success in the getting the screen working for the game.

The sound works just fine; it's only the game that doesn't work, and I fear that this might apply similarly for when Grimrock 2 is available to download on steam and yet won't work if I attempt to play it.

Any help would be very much appreciated,
Gemma.

Never heard of this problem before. If everything else fails, you can always play in borderless windowed mode.

Open your grimrock.cfg file in Documents/Almost Human/Legend of Grimrock folder with a text editor and change display mode to 3 like this:

Code: Select all

displayMode = 3

Thank you for your quick reply - the game works now! I can sort out a long-term solution later, likely asking family, but the windowed version is seriously better than nothing, especially with the 2nd game's release in a couple of hours. I'm still learning the basics in becoming an advanced computer user, so again, thank you for your help! :)

This could be a problem inside the video driver settings. LoG uses whatever is preset there to switch your system into fullscreen mode and when this info is somehow false or missing strange results can happens.

The best thing to start would be to reset your video driver to default settings and then re-check with the game. If the problem persists, the saved output of a "dxdiag" run via the "Run Application" option might give use more of a clue what's wrong.
