Error: [string "Map.lua"]:0: invalid map position

I was on level 6 - walked into a room with a Giant Crab facing a grate to another room. The crab did not move or respond to me. I could not melee it, either. I was able to cast spells at it and I think I killed it... ?
As soon as I 'killed' it the game crashed. I am now unable to play that save game. I receive an error as soon as it loads up.
