Grimrock

So I just retrieved the Dismantler, and I was curious about something in the room prior. When you first enter the room with the pitfalls and the lightning bolt-spewing bas-reliefs, to the north of the room is a closed metal grate. To the very left of that is a wall button, but no matter how many times I click on it, it seems to do nothing. No walls or doors open within the vicinity that I can detect, and even after reloading I pressed the one near the other metal grate that was closed and that opened on it's own.

I suppose my question is, does this button do SOMETHING somewhere on the floor that I am just completely unaware of? Is it a dummy switch? Even falling through the pits to the floor bellow reveals nothing. If someone knows what I'm talking about(I can take a screen shot as soon as I figure out how...print screen doesn't seem to be it), that'd be fantastic.

I was fairly sure both needed to be pressed to open the gate to the dismantler, much like the first iron door required two hidden switch presses.

Maybe? I fiddled with that button a bit, even after reloading. I'll just take your word for it, since I got the sword and I'm done with that section. It makes sense, and that's what I thought, but I could have sworn I pressed it after the fact. Eh, whatever.

I'll keep an eye out next play-through and see if I run into the same issue again. Thank you.

solved level 8. You definitely have to press all 2 buttons to open the metal grate leading to the Dismantler vault.
Maybe you pressed 1 button by accident or you just can't remember having pressed it at all
