Ok, I'm automapping, and on level 9. I stopped using the compass ages ago because it was driving me crazy; today i thought to give it another try.

and it was still driving me crazy, and then i spent the time to figure out why. I'm absolutely convinced it's broken.

and then i called my wife in, feeling crazy. We both agree, the compass doesn't work. I tried this on multiple levels, just to make sure I wasn't in some 'trap'.

IN GAME: If 'red' is pointing up, and you turn right, red now points left.

That simply can't happen. Red should be pointing right.

Llet's say 'red' is the direction you're facing, and grey is not.

If red is pointing up, that would mean you're facing North, and if you turn right, red should point right, which is East.

If for some reason grey and not red is the indicator, then if red is facing up you're facing South, and if you turn right grey should be facing West... but it's not, it's facing East.

The compass is broken.

I see what your saying, but maybe, as it is a compass it always points north? Regardless or where you are facing it is always showing you in which direction is north? I will jump on the game now and try it out.

Yeah it does work, if you're facing North, red will point North.

If you turn right and face East, red will point West because North is now West of you as previous post said the compass always points North.

Good thing we're not 18th century sailors lol.

that's exactly why i called my wife in, because i felt like i was missing something. she missed it too. lol.

... at least you didn't miss the fact that it always points somewhere, Yogscast did. But yes, the Compass always points north , the Compass is only really useful for the old school mode tho so you have a constant point of reference to where north is.

If red is pointing up, that means you are going north. If you turn right, you are now going east, which means north is to the left of you. Thats exactly how a compass works.

Holy crap, we're all doomed.

Seriously, we need to take a census and find out exactly what percentage of the human population doesn't actually understand what a compass does right now. If it's less than 50%, there's absolutely no reason not to launch all the nuclear weapons on Earth simultaneously and just get this whole charade over with.
