Stuck on Level7 room full of pitfalls

On the NE side there is a room full of pitfalls and a face shooting a magic ball that opens and closes the pits and a door on the other end. I have no idea how to open the door. I know I can run and stand in the way of the magic ball to interrupt the pits but I cannot seem to find a way to open the door. I don't know if I'm just blind or what, please help.
