while i agree that the post you're responding to is silly, your post is also silly. there are tons upon tons of amazing games that are open source and/or freeware that were made simply out of love - where a 'whole team of programmers' got together just to make a great game. nethack, crawl, battle for wesnoth, freeciv, and on and on and on, i could list dozens.

Certainly no shortage of suggestions on this forum and that's very cool. Don't forget tho, sometimes less is more. It's not difficult to find examples of games that tried to go Bigger Faster Harder without really becoming better (and often became much worse).

and how many of them sold their games and didn't release the source code / assets? freeware and open source is all great and everything, but LoG is not freeware or open source. it is a product. it is sold for cash. AH is in the business of putting food on their tables, not philanthropy.
