Karma`s a bitch man, or as the kids say, cheaters never win.
But really, that sucks to be so close to the end and I have used hex editors in games once in a while myself

it is but it is not a game killer. I've looked over his save while trying to find him a work around. Where he is it is vary possable to complete the game.

But yeah it does suck to have that sort of issue crop up right at the end like that.

Same issue here
I'll give some details about it, which may hopefully help in finding the root cause of the issue. It happened to me on the level 3(4) in
SpoilerShow
a room where you step in, the door closes and then there is a trapdoor in the center of the room controlled by the pressure plate and some zombies come at you. I've let about two of them to fall down, kill the other, then saved and went down the trapdoor, where I found two snails and one of the zombies(survived the fall?). Unfortunately I died and when I reloaded the game and went down again, there were only two snails and an invisible wall.
So it looks like the square was marked as occupied because of the bad guy, but he was not persisted so the square couldn't be cleared again. Maybe it has something to do with the fact, that I affected different floor than the one where I was standing.
I'll keep the save game in case you'll need it for analysis.

Good news is (as many have mentioned before) you don't have to explore this area. I've finished my first playthrough without exploring that area so it is really optional (of course later I reloaded my pre-cube-assembly save and I have explored this area as soon as I realized I've missed it).

Anyway, it's not really a bug if you have used third party tool to hack game files.

This is actually an old thread, and the error in the original thread was caused by manual tampering to the save file. You might want to consider starting a new thread instead of bumping up a very old thread?

Did you try to alter your save file (or in game memory) in any way before this incident happened? Also, if you reloaded again, would it happen again?

Sorry, didn't notice it's an old thread. I was just googling for the issue and found this

No

yes

It didn't block me in the game, so I just continued. But I'm keeping the save game in case anyone would ever need it.
