Some games on Steam can be just played even when Steam itself is not running essentially having zero drm. Will it be like that with LoG? I'm trying to figure out wherever i should get it on Steam or on GoG? I like the latter of its no-DRM policy, but having 200+ games on Steam pulls me towards it.
My LOG game box stands proudly on the GOG shelf, together with a little sticker saying 'SOON'. One day soon it will say 'NOW', but for now it's soon. The sooner the better.

If the client is not running and grimrock.exe is launched it will fire up the client in the background which is needed for the community features and achievements to work afaik. There's nothing special with Grimrock compared to other games in this regard. Feel free to choose whatever option is more convenient for you.
