I think the "Trickster" opens the doors using a key and releases these swarm enemies. I guess if you kill him before he can open the doors they stay closed. Not 100% sure though.

Yea I think that is it. I have no chance of killing this wizard otherwise. Guy just seems impossible.

Tried again but the trickster didn't open any doors. Good lord this fight is just absurd. What do you do when he shields himself? Just wait it out or something? Seems like forever. I can only last so long until everyone is injured and its all over.

Dont run like a rabbit through the corridors. You will get under fire from all sides. As i told before i waited at that black location on my map and killed every clone in 1-2 hits in melee that comes to me. I fired poisonbolts and fireballs + meteor trough the long hallways in north and western direction, even if i dont see anyone. If i dont hit someone i go rest for few seconds to upload energy. Time will come that the real master enters that place and then kick him in his ass.
That was MINE solution. Maybe it didnt work by others.
EDIT: His shield will go down if you hit him enough. That shield makes him not invulnerable. It just blocks some damage.

Okay! I was so confused there for a second. For some reason I thought I had to kill the clones to remove the shield. Thought I was going to kill myself.

The fight is really intense, but I managed to kill him "directly" (after 5 epic fails) but it costed me 10 healing potions, 4 blue crystals, 3 ress potions and I don't remember how many energy potions (due to spells and charged attacks hitting illusions).
So it's not impossible to kill him face to face it's just extremely painful, expecially when he decides to keep pushing you against a wall (never died so quickly in a game).
Yes the shield works exactly like the goromorg one in LoG 1, but I never payed attention on how much damage it blocks.

That's what I did, a Lizardman with Immune to Fire and Poison, all status effects, and very high resist to Air and Water with more health than anyone else. Also helps I had my Alcamist stockpile EVERY herb I ever picked up, breed more, and never once in the entire game actually make a potion till fighting the Castle Boss and the True Boss. And by that point I had like 70 Greater Heal potions and a whole lot of crystal plants for Vitality+ potions for him, and lots of the Death Plants for Res Potions. He was easy to face tank. :3

yes. like I said, cast invisible BEFORE you put the orb of balance on the altar. He will ignore you, and NOT use his keys, giving you first strike opportunity.
wait you have him in a good position, and hit him with your best shot, then just wail on him, chances are you will take him down before he ever gets to use his key.
(after the end of the fight with the master, when YOU have the key, it's fun to go around and trigger all the traps yourself, just to see what the leprechaun could have done to you if you let him).

You can use force field to block the traps at the start and to seal off rooms later.
