Hand-drawn mapping question
Re: Hand-drawn mapping question
I think you actually adapt to this naturally as you play. I was looking over my old old map journal from my Dungeon Master days, and I noticed that once I had the first level mapped fully, later levels were easily placed, especially when matching pits and stairs purely by X/Y coordinates.
Re: Hand-drawn mapping question
Curious, as someone who is used to doing a lot of graphic design type stuff, I'm far more comfortable digitally doing things (in Photoshop and similar programs), was wondering how many of you were going to forgo the printing process and just make a bunch of digital pages of it, and just edit it there? (Or use a proper virtual mapping tool of course)
I think I'm going to, it sounds like fun this way ^^. Even though it breaks most of the usual fun of having a hand-drawn collection of maps.

That wouldn't "scratch the nostalgia" itch for me. I expect my maps to be a mess by the time I'm done, with eraser marks and scribble all over them.Patchumz wrote:Curious, as someone who is used to doing a lot of graphic design type stuff, I'm far more comfortable digitally doing things (in Photoshop and similar programs), was wondering how many of you were going to forgo the printing process and just make a bunch of digital pages of it, and just edit it there? You can run the game in windowed mode and just alt-tab to your digital pages. =)Patchumz wrote:Curious, as someone who is used to doing a lot of graphic design type stuff, I'm far more comfortable digitally doing things (in Photoshop and similar programs), was wondering how many of you were going to forgo the printing process and just make a bunch of digital pages of it, and just edit it there? Re: Hand-drawn mapping question
I'm thinking of going with my old school method which is just memorising the levels, it can get a bit confusing but after a while it starts to make sense. Most important rule for mentally navigating a maze is ALWAYS GO LEFT!jfunk wrote: That wouldn't "scratch the nostalgia" itch for me. I expect to get thoroughly lost!
