Sword of the dismantler

Okay ive explored most of the level, found the hidden switch inside the room that houses the sword but cannot survive when I take it. Is there a trick to surviving this? Does it have to do with the plates behind me where the spider was? Ive tried that for 5 or so minutes to no avail.

that was quite enough, as far as i could remember the sword used was from the ancient time.

Also remember some people might have 2 sword fighters, so Dismantler + Sword of Xen or whatever, you'd need both of them for the party to be good.
