Textures from Spiral Graphics for custom tilesets?

Post by TheStoryteller01 »

Spiral Graphics features several fantasy themed sets in it's free download section http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/packs/index.htm that would match the LoG style quite well imo and could make for some great custom tilesets - especially for building exteriors.
The most interesting ones are
- Cottage wallset: http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/packs/bui ... /index.htm
- Church/Fortress wallset:http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/packs/bui ... /index.htm
- Door set: http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/packs/doo ... /index.htm
- Window set:http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/packs/win ... /index.htm
The license says that the textures provided on the site may be used royalty free:http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/packs/usage_rights.htm
2. If you are a "Free User" (someone who has not purchased an appropriate Genetica license and instead uses free or demo software):
a. You may use the preset and pack textures in both commercial and noncommercial projects such as games, movies, publications, and artwork. You will not owe us any fee for this activity.
b. You may modify our textures to whatever extent you see fit. You will not owe us any fee for this activity.
c. You may redistribute our textures, but must clearly and visibly link to our website as the source of the textures. If you do not wish to credit our website, then you may instead become a Paying Customer by purchasing a license for Genetica, at which point your rights will be governed by point 1 above.
Do you guys agree that the style matches the existing LoG textures?

I think most of them look a little too clean, but that could easily be fixed in Photoshop / GIMP with not much work at all. I think you would struggle to use a bunch of them (as they are basically 'pictures' of 3D shapes, not 'skins') but the flat ones like the walls and things look pretty useful :).
