[Mac OSX] Mouse offset problems?

Post by Blakdragon39 »

Sometimes when I start the game, the mouse is offset from where it's displaying. That offset doesn't seem constant either - it sometimes changes an is inconsistent. Problem persists both when I use a mouse (Razer DeathAdder) and the mousepad. Sometimes restarting my laptop seems to work, but not always. Anyone know of a fix? Are there any more details I can provide?

Maybe related? (I don't know if grimrock on osx is based on SDL though): https://forums.libsdl.org/viewtopic.php ... d2e5e807e5

It SEEMS like I fixed it by installing Steam and redownloading the game through Steam, therefore possibly getting updates I didn't have before. I downloaded the game originally from the Humble Bundle site. Tried it twice, and it seems to be working now. But it sometimes worked before too, so it's hard to tell!

Maybe not so much offset problem (here) but in my case an interfacing problem.

I am literally on the first tutorial mouse click screen. When I click the mouse the program throws me to the generalized interface window. I was able to create characters, and view the prologue; but with out being able 'touch things' these characters aren't going anywhere - literally.

(Gamer Smirk) Maybe they can wait for the next four prisoners to arrive ... (seriously though) Any one have any thoughts. I am running Mac MIni using the current Apple/Mac OS system [10.9.3] and have a two button mouse with center wheel.

:x OK I am not getting a response here AND I am not getting a response on the STEAM Community Forums ... Maybe I've just purchased a game that JUST DOES NOT WORK ON A MAC MINI or maybe THE MAC IN GENERAL. Since no-one wants to answer my question I'll just mentally write off another $15.00 of my money for nothing.

If any one wants to reach me about this issue YOU can contact ME at MstrPBK at q.com

P.S. And no I am not a whinny 15 year old. I am a 56 year old gamer who just feels like no-one really cares about software quality, or the importance of answering questions.

1) When you have a different problem than the original poster create your own thread so people know that YOU are looking for help.
2) When nobody answers you right away it might be that nobody can reproduce your specific hardware/software setup or problem.

Q: How did you create characters without a working mouse?

(WARNING: this note is being posted at a moment when I have been up MORE than 16 hours; my temperament might show just a little bit)

1) the thread is entitled: "[Mac OSX] Mouse offset problems?"
2) AT the moment I made the original post my mind went: "Maybe the two are related at some level?" as I have some vague understanding that sometimes more than problem may be exhibited by the same or similar root problem.
3) In this day and age two different generations can easily talk about the same topic and use different terminology to convey the exact same thing.

THAT is why I posted it ... where I did.

Woah - that escalated quickly! I hadn't previously noticed your post MstrPBK because I kinda wrote off the thread after the OP had found a solution. It's possible that others have done the same.

Anyway, some suggestions...

1. Have you tried running the game in 'Windowed', 'Borderless' and 'Full Screen' display modes? It's possible that you might have more luck with one over another. If you can't even access the options menu, it's possible to edit the CFG file by hand (just let us know and we might be able to help).

2. I know this is a pain from your perspective, but have you tried a different mouse? If you can borrow one from a windows PC, it might be worth trying a different mouse, just in case your standard mouse is using some weird non-standard interface that the game doesn't pick-up correctly (I severely doubt this, but hey, no harm in trying eh?).

3. You might want to try deleting and reinstalling the game using whichever method you used to buy the game.

It's worth noting that most of the users on this forum are in no-way affiliated with the game developers, so angry posts saying ":x I am not getting a response here" isn't likely to encourage anyone to give you any help. While the guys from Almost Human do come around quite often, once a thread has been 'solved', it's unlikely they would find a further question posted later in the same thread. If you have a new support request that you'd like to post on the forum, I definitely suggest using a new thread, even if it's similar to another post, so that it gets noticed.

Failing that, the official "If I have a problem, who do I contact?" page states "If you need further assistance, you can also always send an email to us at: Image. Might be worth giving that a shot if you can't fix the problem!

John -

Will try your check list of recommendations and try to get back to you in a bit. Work from home so I have to balance work and play responsibly.

Thank you for your thoughts.
