Hardware Test on my MBP 13"
Hardware Test on my MBP 13"
Hi everyone.
I just run the 1.0.4 Hardware test on my 2009 Macbook Pro 13" with 2GB of RAM and an NVidia 9400M that can use up to 256 MB of the system's main memory. With everything at Low and a 1280 x 800 resolution I got from 27 to 36 frames per seconds in the tech demo.
My question is, will I be able to play the full game at an enjoyable level? Enjoyable mean that with whatever happening on screen (surely more things than in the Hardware Test), will the final version run at a minimum of 24 FPS (which is the same as a movie and fine for me).
I'm not an FPS freak and 24 all the way would be satisfying for me and I'd buy the game.
So tech-heads and developers, what's your opinion?
Many thanks.
GrK

Do you have SSAO turned off per chance?

Please note that your fps may be higher in the final game as it's the more optimised version of the two.
Yes, above 24 should govern you 'enough' fps for you to enjoy the game to its fullest.

Perhaps a visit to Otherworld Computing is in order? You should max out the RAM on that machine. It's really cheap and a snap to install yourself.

Thanks Mameluk for your answer.
Thanks again.
Geez, didn't know the price of 8GB of RAM got so low. Tell me Arctor, I didn't know about Otherworld Computing but I've delt with Crucial on multiple occasions before. How's OC's products quality wise?Arctor wrote:Perhaps a visit to Otherworld Computing is in order? You should max out the RAM on that machine. It's really cheap and a snap to install yourself.

OWC has been great. Upgraded RAM, hard drives, and optical drives on four different machines over the last five years, and not a single issue.GrK wrote: Geez, didn't know the price of 8GB of RAM got so low. I was surprised by RAM prices too.

So, I caved in and pre-ordered it from GOG.
Hope it runs decently on my Mac (under bootcamp with Win7) otherwise I'll run it at work (during lunchtime).
Once I install it (possibly tomorrow), I'll report here how it fares on my machine so that others can take a more enlightened decision if they have similar hardware.
Thanks.

Incidentally, 8gb is overkill, very few games even use 4gb.GrK wrote: Geez, didn't know the price of 8GB of RAM got so low.
Daniel.

On the other hand, 8GB is dirt cheap these days, so you might as well get it, right?Darklord wrote:Incidentally, 8gb is overkill, very few games even use 4gb.GrK wrote: Geez, didn't know the price of 8GB of RAM got so low.
