Milkshape is a good editor for 3D Models and way cheaper than any other professional software (25€ to be precise).
Instead of supporting all those probably pirated 3DS Max copies out there...

I can program C++, but I have no experience whatsoever with 3D Model Formats, so it would be nice if maybe someone can pick this up
