Forgive basic question

I am unable to display the ingame map. It is set to the TAB but wont show, if I click the map icon on charater sheet it wont show. I know I'm missing something fairly basic, need help please would love to know where ive been and are going..

If you have the game set for "Old School" Mode, there is no map. If this is the case you will have to start over because you cannot change it once the game as started.
