A Game Wish for the Developers

Post by Falion1 »

First, let me say, since I'm new to the forum, THANK YOU developers for making Grimrock. I purchased Grimrock through GOG ( where I usually get my games ) and have enjoyed the game tremendously so far. I'm sure this isn't the BEST place to post this, but I can find no other likely place in the forum...so here goes... please bear with me.

My WISH, is for you talented developers to make for a new game / project , something on the order of a game similar in scope to the old Might and Magic series, to be more exact, something similar in scope to MM7 Blood and Honor. This game, for it's time was pretty awesome, and with a more modern engine like yours, a SIMILAR type game, of your own, having above world exploration and having dungeon crawls as well would be awesome. Yeah I know, what I am describing is NOT a grid-based game...maybe I'm just extremely HOPEFUL, that you guys can make such a project come true. If you haven't played any of the MM series of games ( talking to the developers here ), pick up an old copy of MM7 of GOG, play it for a few days ( you have to get past the mediocre graphics to the gameplay ) and you'll see what I mean. I think a modern day version / depiction of a game "similar" would spark a LOT of interest in many of us "old school" gamers...at least this one here, I'd buy it immediately :)

Thanks for reading!

Er...lol...yes, there is and that "is not it" :) This is what I was meaning.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Might_and_Magic_VII

But I am assuming you were just being funny

Recently purchased it off GOG ( played it years ago ). Graphically it's complete garbage by today's standards, but the game-play is good enough, and in someways better than many of today's "eye candy games" that lack any real substance and you blow through them in 30 hours.

I was only even mentioning it here on the forum, as a similar type game with today's technology and engines being utilized could make for one really outstanding Indi title.

Graphics ain't important. It's about gameplay. Nice graphics are a bonus imo, but I still have plenty of fun playing ol' Dungeon Master, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and indeed Might and Magic VII or VI.

I must say I've played M&M VI and VII twice, but never finished the games. Always a few hours away from finishing it, but the end game was always too tedious for me. By that time I was just a bit fed up with the game so I never managed to finish the games unfortunately, because before I quit them they probably took about 100 hours of my life each ;).
Any remake based on M&M would be great. Just like LoG is a great remake of the old school dungeon crawlers.

I do think that games like Oblivion are a bit similar to M&M. Open lands with dungeons, just 1 character.
