If you've already found the 'secret' entrance from level 7, then start from there. I don't think you can immediately enter the lightning room (spider running over pressure plates). Instead, you must clear this part of the the instance to get into that room. By 'this part', I mean the part of the level that's only accessible from level 7, not the part with the crystal in it. Be sure to save before starting.
