Hall of fire Mages enterance

I heard you had to shoot a fireball at the head thing...but I can't do that...and firebombs aren't working. how do I get past this flippin trapdoor?

you could: wait until your mage can shoot fireballs or... find something else, that shoots fireballs... something... fiery ;)
