Ok managed to get around the problem. I had no firebolts left in the Fireblade And was a long way from getting the Firebolt Skill. So loaded an earlier game and in the Treasure Store I used the 1 gold key i had on the cell with the Tome of Fire Used it and it upped my Fire skills to be able to cast ...

I'm having problems with the Mages Entrance too

I used up all my Firesword bolts on the Ogre and I don't
have the skill to conjure a fireball spell, i've tried poison bolt
and anything else i could throw at it but no luck.
