I wouldn't call myself experienced, but something I've been putting a lot of thought into is how difficult any given challenge should be, whether it's a fight or a puzzle. If everything is very easy, some players will just get bored - but others want that. But if everything is too hard, people will ...
No one picks anything above easy either, because it's 'bothersome'? Is that what you're saying? Damn, I guess I'm just the only one too retarded not to do that then... Of course there should be an option if enough people wants it. I personally don't need it, as I cast the spells in a second or less...
While there's nothing wrong with asking for spells to be changed, I think the best immediate solution to this problem is to play the game without a mage in your party - or, if you're already deep in the dungeon with one, deck him out in the super-strong light-armor set + shield, rank up Staff Defens...
I think this is a great puzzle, except for one thing - it's difficult to discover where to start. This is the one thing I'd change in this game - I'd make it so that you entered the Pillared Hallway from the side instead of from behind it, and make it so that you must start from the back wall. That ...

Since Toorum went through the dungeon before the other parties did, maybe those hallways won't be caved in, if he's quick. Maybe he moves quickly so he can race to thos...
There were a lot of games that I loved when I was a kid, but Dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder I simply could not enjoy. I tried both of them several times, but just lost interest so quickly. I just finished Legend of Grimrock last night. To my amazement, this game was just so insanely enjoyabl...
My most favorite was level 9. Actually, from that point on in the game in general, including level 8. The whole feel of the dungeon design changed, and felt even more old-school - no more easy puzzles. Every little nook and cranny felt like they kept secrets from me, and I simply couldn't find them....
I just beat the game on hard, with my first party - with a bit of an unusual setup. Front row- 1 - Minotaur Warrior, even split between armor & maces, pretty standard. Used throwing weapons in his offhand. 2 - Minotaur Mage, even split between staff defense & earth magic. LOVED this characte...
